The future of health care: health Care, then IT

CSC. on the leading Edge Forum recently released a report that specifies the new wave of disruptive technologies that will shape the provision of health care. These new technologies will help control costs and often the era of wellness, a custom control, greater and earlier detection of the disease and the development of more effective ways to improve health.

The report, "The Future of Healthcare: health care, and then," identifies a wide range of technologies in the field of development, from smart pills, which supply medicament targeted benefits to specific locations in the body, the brain implants to prevent epileptic seizures, focal lenses with microchips to detect Glaucoma, the bioprinting that creates a new look.

"Health care requires a significant change in the distraction of a solution of his problems and there are many maturing technology that can help," said Fran Turisco, leading Researcher of the study, who are emerging ways to research the principal of the CSC's Global Healthcare services group. "What we saw on the tip of the iceberg is only the date of the broad range of technologies from business, Government and university research laboratories, to a significant difference for the delivery of the wellness and care."

The report lists the five key trends that will change the health care, all of these emerging technologies: allowed

1. E-Power to the patient: patients are in their care management daily, between the patient and the provider is marked "shared services". Shall have the right through the the availability of health information, the new smart health care applications and support system that supports and monitors progress.

Supporting technologies include: Smartphone and Internet applications accessible health information, social networking site iTriage patientslikeme.com and Band Aid, and similar to heart rate sensor wirelessly sending data to a Smartphone. The pilot phase for homebound patients, smart bathroom, and sensor-rich "living laboratories".

2. the earlier Detection: Accelerate early diagnosis is crucial to the initiation of the treatment and prevention of disease. Potentials will range from simple, inexpensive technology test complex genetic testing.

Supporting technologies include: breath tests using nanotechnology for diabetes and cancer, whose cameras and optical fiber cable for identification of cancer, tests carried out on the paper, the laboratory tests and home solutions based on sensor for diagnosing sleep apnea.

3. fix the high-tech: the next generation of implants and ingestibles will monitor the progress of the disease without drugs, assistance and the replacement of defective organs and limbs.

Supporting technologies include: glucose monitoring tattoo, smart pills that notification if swallowed, artificial pancreas for artificial retinas for diabetiky and blind patients.

4. the means: further, but the other: the role of the providers of care changes and will be accessible by means of a remote technology and online community for care and consultation, as well as teaching and learning.

Supporting technologies include: laden vehicle Sensor teddy bear robots for children in hospitals, automatic tracking of care assistants for the older patient, encouraging and monitoring the training of smartphones, "serious" video game for the honing of medical decision making mobile doctors and continuing education programs through the Internet, Smartphones, and Tablet PCs.

5. Global health Ecosystem results: Rich ecosystem of data and knowledge, supports multiple linked care and research collaboration for the identification of the disease and treatment.

Promotion of technology and network collaboration include: M2Gen cancer individual treatment and Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation, the conduct of clinical trials on three continents, Global Grid to improve health information to public health and health information exchange.

The report contains a detailed analysis of each health care trend that is supported by the descriptions of the emerging technologies that are enabling these trends. The full report is available for free at http://www.csc.com/lefreports.

As part of the CSC's Office upgrade this gives clients access to the powerful knowledge base and global network of innovative thought leaders who engage technologies, and business executives on the current and future role OF THE IT. Focusing on the practical use of technology, the CSC offers a view of the technology development for helping clients understand what happens in the future and how to take advantage of the changes.
