Jill - NSW - Australia

Married for 30+ years with a snoring husband we had tried many remedies and he was cynical when I came home with "more snake oil". He gave it a try and is a convert. I had the best night's sleep for years and his comment is that he is amazed. It worked better as the residual effect kicked in and he is now a great advertiser of your product. Am now considering some of your other products and recommend you strongly to family and friends. Thank you.

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years. According to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, priests and physicians were using essential oils a long time before Christ to heal the sick. They are the oldest form of medicine and cosmetics known to man and were considered more valuable than gold. There are 188 references to oils in the Bible. Although aromatherapy has been known for ages, its popularity and use has grown immensely in the last 20 or 30 years.

The Promise of Sleep: A Pioneer in Sleep Medicine Explores the Vital Connection Between Health, Happiness, and a Good Night's Sleep

The Promise of Sleep: A Pioneer in Sleep Medicine Explores the Vital Connection Between Health, Happiness, and a Good Night's Sleep"We are a sleep-sick society," says William C. Dement, M.D., Ph.D. According to Dr. Dement, "sleep science" has yielded a great deal of scientific knowledge about sleep--yet the general public, and even doctors, aren't aware of it. Sleep disorders are routinely misdiagnosed or ignored, sometimes resulting in medical tragedy and death, frequently leading to chronic exhaustion. In The Promise of Sleep, Dr. Dement aims to remedy that by making the latest sleep information accessible to health professionals and lay readers. He describes the sleep cycle and gives a short history of sleep research. Then he dives into clear and detailed explanations of concepts and conditions we've all heard about, but that few of us understand: sleep debt, biological clock, circadian rhythm, insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy. He discusses why we need sleep (sounds obvious, but it isn't) and the role of dreams. After 300 pages of sleep facts, Dr. Dement teaches you how to "reclaim healthy sleep" in your own life. You learn to assess your personal sleep situation by keeping a sleep diary, measuring your sleep debt, and evaluating your risk of sleep disorders; find appropriate treatment; manage sleep crises; and adopt a "sleep-smart lifestyle." A three-week "sleep camp" program at the end helps you put all the strategies together. This book will put you to sleep--and that's meant as praise! --Joan Price

Treat Sleep Apnea-sleep your 8 and Wake Up big

You sleep eight hours a night, but wake up feeling unrested and drowsy? You ever wake up suddenly in the middle of the night, sometimes choking or gasping for air? You sometimes cord high? If any of this sounds like you, you may have problems with sleep apnea. Breathing is repeatedly interrupted during sleep, usually for more than 10 seconds and at least five times per hour. The word "apnea" comes from the Greek words for "want of breath." It is difficult for the body to get restful sleep, since it is constantly distracted by trying to breathe. In addition to keeping you from REM cycles and deep sleep, causing a person to wake up several times in the night, that restful sleep difficult.

There are three different types of this disorder:

-Sleep Apnea Disorder: this happens when the brain not signal muscles tell you to breath.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea: this happens when the blocking occurs in breathing tract.
Mixed Apnea: this is a mixture between the other two types.

There are many treatments to cure insomnia (some that work better than others), but the most common treatment is continuous Positive airway pressure or CPAP therapy. Therapy is made possible by a CPAP machine that connects a mask for face and pushes air into the nose and mouth. The pressure of the air is high enough to clear the obstacles or force the muscles continue breathing, even when they come to an end. There are different degrees of pressure, because there are different degrees of sleep apnea, so the amount of pressure depends on the severity of the disorder.

If you believe you have sleep apnea, you should speak with a doctor. Continuous Positive Airway equipment must be prescribed by a medical license, and you should see any if you are struggling with sleep apnea yet, make sure you are dealing with it in the best possible.

CPAP is the most common to treat sleep apnea, but there are others:
Change in lifestyle. After a mild case can sometimes go away if a person loses weight, avoid alcohol and sleeping pills, stopping smoking and change sleeping positions to promote regular breathing. Sleeping on their backs should be avoided.
Dental units. Certain units are placed in the mouth can keep the airway open during sleep.
Surgery. Surgery is sometimes necessary to correct this disorder. Operations can reduce enlarged tonsils, establish an overbite, which causes the neck must be narrow or repair a deviated nasal septum.

In addition to these common treatments, there are also many alternative processes sleep apnea, to give a patient a lot of choices to choose from. Patients do not have to contend with the problem more, patients can get the help they need and "rest easy."

The Sun Touch Plus light therapy device features built-in ion and Britewave technology to combat those winter blues. View larger.

Effective treatment for SAD and other circadian rhythm disorders.

Features include an ionizer and automatic timer.
Because the Sun Touch Plus combines Britewave technology and ion technology, it provides powerful results using a lower level of 10,000 lux light that makes treatment easier on the eyes and more enjoyable to use. This device produces 7,100 Kelvin, making it the highest rated Kelvin light therapy unit on the market and the closest to actual outdoor light. The small size of the light box (13.5 x 9 x 5 inches) makes it easy to use almost anywhere, plus you can take it with you when you travel. The Sun Touch Plus also comes with a built-in timer to help you control the length of your session, and it automatically shuts off when your session is complete. This is helpful function that makes sure you do not overuse your light box.

Apollo Health uses high-density ion technology in the Sun Touch Plus. Most regular ionizers on the market are not made to treat winter blues or circadian rhythm disorders; they simply lack the technology to create the high-density result that is needed to be effective. Apollo's ion technology was made to create an effective, therapeutic level of high-density ion, especially for those who suffer from these types of disorders. The latest advancements in ion and needlepoint repulsion technology have been integrated into the Sun Touch Plus, so you get the benefit you need and have no messy filters or rods to clean.

You might be wondering, What are ions are why are they important? Ions are a charged particles in the air that are formed in nature in different ways. One way is when enough energy acts upon a molecule, such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, or water, to eject an electron from the molecule. This creates a positively charged ion. The displaced electron will eventually attach itself to a nearby molecule. This nearby molecule then becomes a negatively charged ion. It is the negative ion of oxygen that affects us the most. High levels of negative ions are found at the beach, in the mountains, in the country, in pine forests, near waterfalls, and many other places that people generally like to be. Think of outdoors places that make you feel good after you visit them. The Sun Touch Plus helps neutralize the "bad" positive ions -- such as those emitted by PCs, artificial lighting, forced air ventilation, and modern building materials -- that can make you feel tired and tense. Essentially, if you can't make it outdoors or to other locations that are rich with negative, recharging ions on a regular basis, then the Sun Touch Plus can help you cope with the woes and stress of modern office life.

Overcome a sleeping Disorder

Sleeping disorder can vary from insomnia snoring and apnea or Narcolepsy. If you believe you have a sleep disorder, it is best to seek help from your doctor. He may be able to refer to a local sleep clinic for the diagnosis, if the problem is serious. Before he makes this form of presentation, he may try to PIN down what could be the cause of your problems. Are you stressed? Do you have other health issues? What you eat and drink? It is important to let your doctor know everything that can possibly affect your sleep.

Insomnia

Many people suffer from insomnia, which is the inability to fall asleep. This could be caused by an interruption in your body's natural rhythm. Some things you can do to help insomnia includes sticking to the aisle, regular bed, avoid NAPs or do something stressful before you go to bed. It can help to keep your bedroom cool, quiet and dark. Some people benefit from the use of ear-plugs or eye shades. If you can't sleep, do not attempt to resist, come and go into another room to pursue a quiet activity such as reading. Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and nicotine before bedtime.

Snoring

Snoring has become a topic for fun, but it is not funny to people who are living with a serious twisting problem. If your problem is not serious, you can try sleeping on your side while avoiding sedatives, sleeping pills, alcohol and smoking. You can also ask your doctor if you have nasal obstructions or allergies, which can contribute to snoring.

As mount Singaporeans to concern about the safety of millions of Japanese, a small group of investors State might be burning the midnight oil in Singapore.

Those people who manage sovereign funds, assets and investment of over us $ 200bil (RM610bil), it is likely that possible future choices poring.

It is not only monitors the nuclear drama unfolding in Japan, but also to the spread of violent unrest in the Middle East, where high-risk Republic.

Recently, Foreign Minister George Yeo told Parliament that Singapore must "adapt to changes".

In 1999, the Government began a strategy of investing in overseas markets for get higher revenue for State funds.

Calling it "a pair of wings foreign seconds", city investments abroad.

Good concept adopted by other countries soon.

Sovereign funds are "Temasek Polytechnic holding, which manages the investments of us $ 142bil (RM432, 72bil), company or Government investment company that manages foreign exchange reserves of over us $ 100bil (RM305bil).

With the domestic market is too small for a large amount of money, and increasing competition from countries like China and India, turning the outside world leaders to find new sources of income.

Furthermore, the world was in good condition, and emerging in Asia was the wonderful new growth opportunities.

However, the foreign invasion has been delayed now and then, unfortunately, a few bad investment decisions.

In the last decade, this has let us move from Pocket antenna wings investment to another.

Another devastating-Japan-probably the worst.

The nuclear crisis is spewing serious implications towards economic recovery in Singapore.

It was one after another crisis of Singapore, of the 11 September terrorist attacks on America in 2001 to the global financial crisis and recession and turbulence 2007 Middle East now.

All these have caused varying degrees of damage to foreign investment in Singapore's ambitious.

People of Saudi Arabia hopes — the most important country in the Middle East remains safe.

During the financial crisis, said "Temasek Polytechnic holding assets that fell in 55bil Singapore dollars (RM168bil). Only in July last year that regained 40 percent.

All these crises are a lesson to Singapore.

Recent history has shown, it now calls for more than just business acumen and timing of investment.

There also must be able to analyze International Affairs.

In 1999, started in Singapore billions from State funds to travel around the world.

The purchase of local companies, which makes it the largest contributor to one of a long list of major companies.

Foreign investment grew after the end of this century, the number and size.

Then the buzzword "strategic investments".

This often includes banks and telecommunications companies and airline companies considered tablets of host countries.

Singapore wants to long-term global linkages.

Experienced market researcher said "significant investments of time for big bucks and bite bullet because it can be very dangerous."

"Even the most experienced will need luck.

"Prayer people there will be after their sudden not political turmoil or natural disaster that could blow away from their investments."

Other concerns include terrorist attacks, and change the currency, and market disruption, changes in policy are unpredictable-no one can topple invested one billion dollars.

Large-scale investments "Singapore Government" — and recent losses abroad-faced public criticism for two reasons.

First, many Singaporeans come money investment from direct taxes and imposing high fees for "pressure" of citizens. Seems to be high all this.

Secondly, continuing economic gap between rich and poor which seems to be broad and rapidly become a source of public dissatisfaction.

He is popularly used part of billions to provide a safety net for the poor, the elderly and the unemployed.

With so many people in need throughout, it makes no sense to lose billions, through investment in a world fraught with risks that could be put to better assist the poorer class.

Another popular viewpoint that sovereign wealth funds may not be the best persons to very large.

Their performance so far was not brilliant.

Morgan Stanley said in a report that investment decisions were bad.

"Once Government control in external economy means must be the responsibility of poor returns with Government".

Two night Polysomnogram with CPAP titration

Split night Polysomnogram with CPAP titration

Type of test you will receive will depend on the specific issues you are facing.

You get a set of instructions by your doctor in your sleep test. These instructions so that you know how to prepare yourself for your visit. Patients are asked to refrain from drinking or taking any medicine before the test. If you have prescription drugs, you normally take night, bring it with you and ask if it will interfere with the testing. Always let your doctor know exactly what medications you are taking, including herbal medicines and vitamins.

Before heading to your sleep test pack a small overnight bag. You must use your PJs, clothes you plan to wear the following day, toiletries, shampoo and SOAP to shower in the morning and books/magazines/music, you can for entertainment before sleeping. If you are fussy about your pillow, it's a good idea to bring along your own comfort. Make sure that you avoid caffeine or alcohol the day before your test, especially after dinner. It is wise to take a shower before their appointment, but do not use any creams, moisturizers, perfumes and other products, skin. All makeup, Nail Polish and fake nails should be removed, since they can interfere with the equipment.

You may have already been asked to complete a questionnaire before their appointment. If not, you will likely be asked to fill out an when you arrive. This will inform doctors of your regular sleep habits and help them to interpret the results.

On most sleep centers do you have a private suite, which includes a bathroom with shower, and, of course, in the bedroom. There will be a central monitoring station can monitor multiple rooms at once. When you arrive, you get some time to get changed and become comfortable.

When you're ready for bed will hook you up engineers to a number of sensors. These electrodes read a range of information, which is later interpreted by your sleep doctor.

EEG or elektroncefalografi-these electrodes are attached to your head and measuring your brainwaves as you sleep. Different patterns of brainwaves are associated with different stages of sleep. Electromyogram or EMG-measuring these electrodes your muscles reaction, indication of muscle twitches, leg movements and many other typical REM sleep movements. EOG electro-oculogram-these electrodes placed over your face or under the eye to measure the movement of your eyes as you enter REM sleep. ECG or electrocardiogram-a series of electrodes on your chest to monitor your heart. Nasal airflow Sensor-this sensor placed near your nose and mouth for the measurement of the temperature of your breath and your rate of breathing, which registers all periods of irregular breathing. Chest/abdomen Belts-these two belts placed around your chest and abdomen to measure the strength and depth of your breathing. Oximeter-clip is linked to one of your fingers to measure the oxygen content in your blood.

In addition to the sensors attached to them, there are monitors in place for video recording your sleep and record sounds you make as you sleep. After having so many sensors attached seems to be uncomfortable, but most people sleep reasonably well to sleep clinic.

A sleep test is generally finished at 6-7 the next morning. As long as you have a minimum of 6 hours of testing time, most clinics pretty flexible when you need to leave. You do not receive your results immediately after the test. It takes a couple of hours to treat all the information has been collected through the night and then more time for a physician to interpret the results. Most patients hear back from their doctors within a week after the test to be asleep.

HOUSE call: more opportunities for people with sleep apnea

As sleep apnea carries long-term consequences if left untreated. Sleep apnea patients was found to have higher rates of heart attacks, stroke, high blood pressure, heart failure and diabetes.

Even when the condition is diagnosed, many people are not able to follow the treatment. CPAP or continuous positive airway pressure, is the most commonly used treatment in adult patients with sleep apnea, and it has been used for this condition for more than 25 years. This computer appears next to the bed and provides air pressure, usually through a nasal mask during sleep, in order to prevent the collapse of the airway. Although CPAP is effective in the treatment of those sleep apnea, many patients have had a difficult time tolerating mask and using the machine during the night.

New types of masks and equipment have been developed over the past few years to CPAP treatment more acceptable to patients. The machines are quieter, smaller and more comfortable as a whole, with more than 50 types of masks, available in different shapes, sizes and materials.

Patients who are having trouble, wearing the CPAP night should request assistance from a specialist in sleep medicine, who has been trained to troubleshoot the problem. With the assistance of a specialist sleep most patients will be used for the use of the machine.

There are new therapies addition to CPAP which is now available. Dental devices, usually placed in the lower jaw to help open the upper airway, can be effective in the treatment of those sleep apnea. Learn how to reduce the effect of Sleep Apnea using 3 medical recommendations

This article would not be able to issue a cure for sleep
apnea, but it can highlight some solutions, you can go to
get rid of it!

The Greek word "apnea" literally means "without breath." So,
in a nutshell, this means sleep apnea sleeping without breathing.

People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly
during their sleep
sometimes hundreds of times during the night and often for a
minute or longer.

Untreated, sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure and
other cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain,
impotency, and headaches. In addition, untreated sleep apnea

be responsible for job impairment and motor vehicle
crashes.

There are three solutions used effectively to reduce teh
sleep apneaeffects.

1. Physical or mechanical therapy

Nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most
the effective treatment of sleep apnea. In this
procedure, the patient wears a mask over the nose during
sleep and pressure from a air blower forces air through
nasal passages. Air pressure is adjusted so that it
just enough to prevent the throat collapses under
sleep. The pressure is continuous. Nasal CPAP
prevents airway closure, while it is in use, but apnea episodes
return, when the CPAP is stopped, or it is used incorrectly.

2. Surgery

Some patients with sleep apnea may need surgery. Although
multiple surgical procedures used to increase the size of the
airway, none of them are quite successful or
without
risks. More than one procedure may be tried before
the patient discovers any advantages.

Some of the more common procedures include the removal of
adenoids and tonsils (especially children), nasal polyps
or other growths or other tissues in the airway and
correction of structural malformations. Younger patients think
to take advantage of these more than older surgical procedures

uvula and part of the soft palate). Success in this
technique can vary from 30 to 60 percent. In the long term
side effects and benefits is not known, and it is difficult
to predict which patients will do good with this procedure.

Somnoplasty is a procedure that uses radio waves to reduce
the size of some airway structures as uvula and
the back of the tongue. This technique is examined as
a treatment of apnea.
